ANCHOR

There've been moments your own grip gave out — on a plan, a commitment, your own composure — and the only reason you didn't fully fall apart was something, or someone, other than your own strength.

SCRIPTURE TEXT

"Your right hand will hold me fast." — Psalm 139:10 (NIV)

TENSION

The verse doesn't say your hand will help steady your grip — it says His hand holds you fast. The security described isn't your grip on Him; it's His grip on you. That's a meaningful difference for anyone who has ever white-knuckled their way through a hard season, assuming the holding on was entirely on them. This verse locates the strength on the other side of the relationship. “Right hand” isn't incidental, either — throughout Scripture it signifies strength, favor, authority: the dominant, capable hand. This isn't a gentle, uncertain grip. It's the strongest hand holding you, specifically.

REFLECT

Where have you been white-knuckling something, assuming the grip had to be entirely yours to keep from falling?

PRAYER

I've been holding on so tightly to things, assuming it was all up to my own grip. Thank You that Your hand is the one holding me fast, not just mine holding onto You. Let go of some of the strain I've been carrying alone, because I'm not actually the one keeping myself from falling. Amen.
