ANCHOR
Sometimes what you're anxious about isn't the crisis itself. It's not knowing which direction to move in the middle of it, the fear of taking one more wrong step on top of everything already going wrong.
SCRIPTURE TEXT
"Answer me quickly, Lord; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me... Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life." — Psalm 143:7-8 (NIV)

TENSION
The psalmist doesn't only ask to be rescued. He asks to be shown a way, direction in the middle of the crisis, not just relief once it's over. Notice the timing too: answer me quickly, my spirit fails, comes right alongside the request for guidance. He's not waiting until he's calm and clear-headed to ask for direction. He's asking for it precisely because he isn't calm and clear-headed, because the urgency itself is part of what makes him need to be shown rather than left to figure it out alone.
REFLECT
Where do you need direction right now, in the actual middle of your anxiety, rather than waiting until you feel settled enough to ask for it?
PRAYER
I don't just want this to be over. I want to know which way to go while I'm still in it. My spirit is failing in real time, not in the abstract. Show me the way today, Lord, not after I've calmed down enough to ask clearly. I'm entrusting You with this, urgency and all. Amen.
