ANCHOR
You've probably worried about where things are headed, not just the immediate problem in front of you, but whether there's actually a place for you in whatever comes next.
SCRIPTURE TEXT
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?... I am the way and the truth and the life." — John 14:1-3, 6 (NIV)

TENSION
Jesus doesn't address the disciples' trouble by minimizing what's ahead. He's telling them this right before his own arrest and death, real, imminent loss. The command “do not let your hearts be troubled” isn't offered because nothing difficult is coming. It's offered alongside a specific, concrete promise: a place being prepared, not a vague future, but rooms, going, preparing, returning. And then the claim narrows even further. Not just a place, but a way, meaning the uncertainty about how to get there is answered too, not only the uncertainty about whether there's a destination.
REFLECT
What uncertainty about your own future are you carrying alone right now, that this passage insists is not actually unattended to?
PRAYER
I've been anxious about where this is all headed, not just today's trouble but whether there's actually a place for me in what's coming. Thank You for being both the place being prepared and the way to get there. Let not my heart be troubled today, not because nothing hard is ahead, but because You've already gone to prepare for it. Amen.
