ANCHOR

You've had good things happen and moved on so fast you barely let them change anything in you — onto the next worry before the last rescue even settled in.

SCRIPTURE TEXT

"Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind." — Psalm 107:43, 8 (NIV)

TENSION

After four rounds of the same pattern — trouble, cry out, rescue — the psalm doesn't end by moving on to a new topic. It ends by telling you what to do with what you just read: heed it, ponder it. Wisdom here isn't cleverness — it's the discipline of actually sitting with what God has already done long enough for it to shape how you see everything else. That's a real critique of how most of us operate. We collect answered prayers the way we collect notifications — acknowledged for a second, then cleared. The psalm assumes the danger isn't that we won't be rescued again; it's that we'll be rescued and immediately forget, moving on before the deed has done its work in us.

REFLECT

What's one specific “wonderful deed” of God in your own life that you've never actually stopped to ponder — not just remember, but sit with?

PRAYER

I move on too fast from what You've done. I say thank You and then I'm already worried about the next thing before the last rescue even settles into me. Slow me down today. Let me actually ponder what You've done, not just file it and move on. Make me wise enough to let Your loving deeds actually change how I see everything else. Thank You for every one of them. Amen.
